Note 1: New students will take a placement test on the first day of school.
Note 2: Students in this class may apply for the Chinatown Trust Fund Financial Aid. This need-based financial aid is intended to help families with lower income enrolling in KKCS programs. Please contact the school office for more information.
Will the format of current language program remain the same?
Starting September, the weekend Chinese Language & Culture class will change to "two language class periods followed by one hands-on project-based activity period". The first two periods will maintain a similar format, covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing of Mandarin. The third period will incorporate festive events and Chinese culture, allowing students to make dumplings, origami, mooncakes while learning Mandarin through hands-on projects.
Is Mandarin the only option?
For the purpose of promoting Chinese Culture, we are planning to offer a Beginner Cantonese course in the afternoon next semester, which will not overlap with the original Chinese class schedule. You're welcome to sign up!
Can I choose to repeat a grade if my child wishes to do so?
Yes. If you would like to repeat, skip or move up a grade for your child, please e-mail your Chinese teacher and they will report to the school. Considering that every child adapts to online modules differently, KKCS will provide maximum flexibility to help parents and students find the most appropriate grade level.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask your Chinese teacher or email us.
Course cancellation and change policy:
Course cancellation or change may happen when the minimum student numbers or other requirements were not met. The students/parents will be notified by email within 72 hours of which KKCS and the partnering institution have decided on the cancellation or change.
